"For twelve years, the dread fortress of Azkaban held an infamous prisoner named Sirius Black. Convicted of killing thirteen people with a single curse, he was said to be the heir apparent to the Dark Lord, Voldemort. Now he has escaped, leaving only two clues as to where he might be headed: Harry Potter's defeat of You-Know-Who was Black's downfall as well. And the Azkaban guards heard Black muttering in his sleep, "He's at Hogwarts." Harry Potter isn't safe, not even within the walls of his magical school, surrounded by his friends. Because on top of it all, there may well be a traitor in their midst."

I enjoyed this book. It is well written and it is a very gripping read. JK Rowling effortlessly creates the Harry Potter universe out of nothing and manages to "sell it" to the audience, making everything sound wondrous yet plausible. The series starts rather innocently but begins to take a darker turn in later volumes. As a child, I remember being really enticed by those dark elements. With the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh volumes being notably dark and foreboding, I think this volume is significant in that it marked the transition between more innocent childish literature and regular literature. That increasing level of maturity was one of my favorite aspects of the series. Death, murder, torture, slavery, discrimination, prejudice, tolerance... the series masterfully approaches these topics in a charming but also serious way. I would highly recommend this series to parents looking to teach their children about prejudice, discrimination and tolerance.

This is the third book of the Harry Potter series. This is an awesome book as the intro is integrating as his cousins and his friends are bullying him. This is the part where some death seekers start chasing Harry and Dudley but Harry defends them. Harry's aunt and uncle didn't want Harry to go to Hogwarts. There was a dangerous criminal known as Serius Black. The tale is funny as the book starts off with Harry trying to find Black through his map to kill him, but finds out that all the accusations were false and that Black was best friends with Harry's father. This is the book where we are introduced to Harry's Uncle Serius Black. A really interesting book as Harry has now found some happiness that he never found before. But continue to read the next book, to see if it lasts.

I have grown up with harry potter, and watched the movies at age three or four. When I watched them, I thought there was no way the books could be better than the movies, but they where! I have read the harry potter series many times, and still the books never get old. One of my all time favourite books!

Of all the books in the Harry Potter series, this one is by far my favorite because Harry, Ron, and Hermione are just starting to act like a pro team but are still precious smol beans!!

This book is obviously better than the movie like any other book. It has precise details and a great choice of words. It really made me visualize the book. I would rate this book 8/8.

This is my favorite book out of the entire Harry Potter series! Two of my favorite characters are introduced in this book (Sirius Black and Remus Lupin) which, I think, is why I like it so much.

It's very well written and gets even more intense than the two books prior to it, of course since Harry is getting older the increase in intensity makes sense. Very detailed, great plot that contributes to the series beautifully. One thing I've noticed is that people with a personality similar to mine love this book the most. So, if your slightly more introverted I think you will really enjoy the Prisoner of Azkaban!

If you haven't read the Harry Potter series yet or started but didn't finish it, I highly encourage you to read (or re-read) it! I just read the entire series this year. I had never watched the movies, I had heard so much about it though and decided to read it. I have fallen in love with this series. It has such a great underlying message about love and light. The series is more than skin deep and brings up great questions to ask about life in general. I highly recommend the series to anyone!
