Suffering from chronic illness and unable to get satisfactory results from doctors, husband and wife scientists Paul and Shou-Ching Jaminet took an intensely personal interest in health and nutrition. They embarked on five years of rigorous research. What they found changed their lives--and the lives of thousands of their readers. Here the Jaminets explain in layman's terms how anyone can regain health and lose weight by optimizing nutrition, detoxifying the diet, and supporting healthy immune function. They show how toxic, nutrient-poor diets sabotage health, and how on a healthy diet, diseases often spontaneously resolve. Perfect Health Diet tells you exactly how to optimize health and make weight loss effortless with a clear, balanced, and scientifically proven plan to change the way you eat--and feel--forever!--Publisher description.

The negative reviews are clearly from people who know the Absolute Truth, and can do research better then some silly astrophysicist and molecular biologist from some Harvard.

True (and strict) Paleo is actually excellent. But this is NOT remotely Paleo!!!

True LC is also excellent, but this is NOT even remotely LC.

LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) is THE best way to go, by far... but this is even yet further from remotely being LCHF.

Who are the author's? Two scientists. An astro-physicist and a molecular biologist. Who may be knowledgeable in their specialized fields, but clueless here.

While inferring a lower carb semi Paleo Diet system, it is neither. After reading the Preface and first couple of chapters I could only scan it after that.

Some anecdotal stories - and a LOT of pseudoscience and outright misstatements!

While claiming their diet is roughly 25-30% carbohydrate and 50-55% fat and 15% protein their recommendation of eating DAILY a pound if "good starches" (no such thing) and a pound of "good sugar fruit" (no such thing) and a pound of Low Carb green vegetables (why bother watching carbs at this point??? - And then, of course, somehow the proteins and fats that you need), it is clear that this works out to more like over 50% carbs (maybe 60%) and then proteins and fats bringing up the rear. (All carbohydrates -ALL - are converted by the body to glucose for the body to use)

They are clearly clueless about Paleo (grains and legumes are definitely forbidden as Early Man, Paleolithic Man, didn't have agriculture or means of processing grains and legumes to make them edible... but in the same breath they emphasize eating WHITE RICE as a "safe starch"!!!???!!! - Paleo Man was clueless about threshing and milling wheat or barley but suddenly could do that with rice PLUS polish it to remove the bran so that it was highly processed WHITE RICE???).

They clearly never lived on a farm or in a wilderness area for any period of time - nor seemingly even ever researched it.

And while loaded with footnotes, they aren't spelled out in the book! No, you have to go to an online site to cross check those footnotes, to find that most are things taken out of context... or meaningless in the situation of the dietary concept that they are claiming to espouse!

Forget this Junk Science attempt to cash in on the movement towards Paleo / LC (and the ultimate of LCHF)... While really being clueless in regard 90% of this!

See the next huge evolutionary leap in LC dieting in the books "Low Carb High Fat Diet Revolution" and "Eat Bacon, Don't Jog".

This book was very difficult reading with so many percentages listed and vitamins and minerals that work together where ratios are "criticaL" that it was tough to get through it. But I managed. It is good but hard reading. I also am a wanna be Vegan or at least would prefer to limit my meat so it did not work well for me.
