"After a cupcake-flinging fiasco at a photo shoot for a local magazine, Melanie Cooper and Angie DeLaura agree to make amends by hosting a weeklong corporate boot camp at Fairy Tale Cupcakes. The idea is the brainchild of billionaire Ian Hannigan, new owner of "SWS" ("Southwest Style"), a lifestyle magazine that chronicles the lives of Scottsdale's rich and famous. He's assigned his staff to a team-building week of making cupcakes for charity. It's clear that the staff would rather be doing just about anything other than frosting baked goods. But when the magazine's creative director is found murdered outside the bakery, Mel and Angie have a new team-building exercise--find the killer before their business goes AWOL. Includes scrumptious recipes."--Publisher website.

A fairly unique mystery series. I enjoyed it though I found the reviews in the book inside covers to be "over the top".

I enjoy this series. Like the characters and the friendships they have. Love how the younger characters have bonded with the older ones. So glad they went back to the bakery for the setting of this book. Can't wait for the next book to see how the love triangle plays out.

I really enjoy the variety of characters and the tight circle of friends. Even the enemies have become friends of sorts. It was a quick, delightful read. The only aspect I couldn't quite understand was Mel's reasoning behind her reluctance to commit to Joe, which seemed a little immature or not well thought out. Maybe the next book will have her more settled in the romance department. Or not.

These cupcake bakery mysteries make me laugh, and I appreciate that. The characters are quirky, the plot is sometimes far-fetched, but I do enjoy reading them.

When a fiasco ruins a photo shoot for a local magazine, Melanie and Angie are forced to lead a cupcake baking boot camp for the magazine staff to pay off the debt incurred by the ruined shoot. The magazine owner believes this to be the perfect team building exercise, given that his employees get along about as well as cats and dogs. Nothing proves that to be more correct than when an employee's dead body turns up in the alley behind the bakery. The bad publicity forces Mel and Angie to find the killer before their business suffers beyond repair. Tate proves his sincerity to prove his worth to Angie by chucking the silver spoon from his mouth and making his own way in the world, and ends up working at the bakery. Although Mel is delighted to see Angie and Tate finally together, it is difficult when she is having doubts about marrying DA Joe. Receiving amorous attention from her Uncle's new partner, Detective Martinez, makes the decision all the more difficult.
