Here is the joyful, inspirational memoir of swimmer Lynne Cox. By age sixteen, she had broken all records for English Channel swims, so she set her goals even higher: She became the first to swim the Strait of Magellan, narrowly escaped a shark attack off the Cape of Good Hope, and was cheered across the twenty-mile Cook Strait of New Zealand by dolphins. Her daring eventually led her to the thirty-eight-degree waters of the Bering Strait, which she crossed in her usual outfit -- just a swimsuit, cap, and goggles. She has even swum (LYNN - right verb ) a mile in the iceberg-choked waters of the Antarctic. With a poet's eye for detail, Cox shares the beauty of her time in the water in this new classic of sports memoir.

A breathtaking, awe-inspiring memoir of determination and courage against impossible obstacles and challenges. Couldn't put it down.

A story of incredible determination. Lynne Cox is unreal.

Lynne Cox is an inspiration. Her integrity, determination, and positive attitude is admirable.
I wondered if an entire book about swimming might be a little boring but I was riveted throughout the book. Many lessons and insights can be applied to any sport.
It's easy to read and well-written.

What do you do next when you're a long-distance swimmer who broke the record for crossing the English Channel at 15? If you're Lynne Cox, you swim the Nile (and get dysentery from the toxic conditions), the Cape of Good Hope (sharks), and Alaska's Glacier Bay. Then, you swim to the Soviet Union (this was 1987) from Alaska, and in Antarctic waters. Cox, who loves cold-water swimming, also wanted to bring people together through her achievements. Swimming to Antarctica displays both her determination and her love for the sport. Popular Culture newsletter March 2015.
