After two years poring over sanitized case studies, students are shuffled off into middle management to find out how business really works. Josh Kaufman has made a business out of distilling the core principles of business and delivering them quickly and concisely to people at all stages of their careers. His blog has introduced hundreds of thousands of readers to the best business books and most powerful business concepts of all time. In The Personal MBA , he shares the essentials of sales, marketing, negotiation, strategy, and much more. True leaders aren't made by business schools--they make themselves, seeking out the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to succeed. Read this book and in one week you will learn the principles it takes most people a lifetime to master.

Like the book. I now have a reading list for business management through the references in this book. I like the idea of being self taught. I'm sure that's what the very successful in any field are already doing in their chosen field. You can browse the concepts presented in this book in two to three page summaries and either decide which ones to read more about or just try to apply the concept as summarized.

The second chapter and its list of forms of value and each of their respective points is so obvious and simple that one has a tendency to forget them, but if one notes them, and reviews them, one would quickly discover all sorts of little ways to improve a business.

A brilliant book for anyone, both long time business owners and those just starting out.... it's not about going into detail on everything, it's focus is a crash course Personal MBA as the title suggests. You WILL learn something from this book, guaranteed! Plus find out about many other valuable resources and books to dig deeper on topics.

Bottom line, you should read this book before investing a lot more in "higher learning" that will leave you in debt and not necessarily further ahead when it comes to a career or business you love.
