This is hands down our favorite Christmas book for children! We got it as a gift when our daughter was born. My oldest kids (12 and 11 year olds) still climb up to listen and look at the beautiful pictures with the younger kids (3, 6, 9 years). If you go to buy the book, look at the size you are purchasing, the larger size is worth it for the pictures! We have given this book as a gift to God children and friends many times.

Really, really cute. Great for a little one around Christmas. Helps remember what Christmas is really about.

This story is so sweet- and the illustrations are so gorgeous! It is a new "Christmas Classic", a necessary annual holiday read!
Slightly Buddhist/Chinese Zodiacs echoes in the animals. In Chinese astrology 12 animals are given a year by Buddha. The order is Rat, Ox, Tiger, Cat or Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Monkey, Goat, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. This book introduces us to Kind Ox, Old Dog, Stray Cat, Small Mouse, and Tired Donkey.
Also, the refrain reminds me of one of my favourite books/songs from childhood "Always Room For One More." This book is all about compassion, and generosity, and kindness.
