"Never has there been as close a bonding as the one that exists betweenthe daring and adventurous young Lord Jaxom and this extraordinary white dragon, Ruth. Pure white and incredibly agile, Ruth is a dragon of many talents, though almost everyone on Pern thinks he is a runt who will never amount to anything. But Jaxom knows better, knows he can teach his dragon to fly and to destroy the deadly silver Thread that falls from the sky. Disobeying all rules, Jaxom and Ruth train in secret. Their illicit flights seem but a minor disobedience--until they find themselves in the path of danger and in a position to prevent the biggest disaster of all . . ."--P. [4] of cover.

RUTH! My gosh, I've not re read this book for at least two decades and yet I recall Ruth and then Jaxom. Always a great way to hold and run with ones imagination.
My method of reading series, is inhale, have plenty of fluids and let your afternoons become nights/mornings, repeat!

The White Dragon by Anne McCaffrey c-1978 As a writer Anne McCaffrey is one of the best Sci-Fi authors and has been instrumental helping to instill guidelines for Sci-FI books and stories. The White Dragon is nothing but Excellent and hard to put down. Don't let your kids catch you reading their books! I have enjoyed All of her writings the best way to read her books is Google her and start with the first one. They are funny and mildly serious w/much banter between the characters. ----Enjoy! ----Richard Paul
