Honeyguide, an African bird, and Badger have always cooperated in their quest for honey to eat; the bird finds the honey, and the badger breaks open the honeycomb. But when greedy Badger one day refuses to share the loot, Honeyguide plots her revenge. The next day, she leads Badger on a wild and wide-ranging hunt for honey through rough terrain...and guides him to a large acacia tree under which a ferocious lion is napping. With lots of fun sound effects, a cumulative structure much like that of the ever-popular "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" game, and illustrations that evoke the traditional Botswanan tale's setting, Honey, Honey-Lion! makes for a boisterous read-aloud but is also great for sharing one-on-one.
