One hundred and fifty years ago, the first dinosaurs were cloned. Soon after, they replaced humans at the top of the food chain. The only way to survive was to move into underground compounds. Five years ago, Sky Mundy’s father vanished from North Compound without a trace. Now she has just stumbled on a clue that not only suggests his disappearance is just the tip of an even larger mystery, but also points directly to the surface. To find her dad—and possibly even save the world—Sky and her best friend, Shawn, must break out of their underground home and venture topside to a land reclaimed by nature and ruled by dinosaurs.

Exciting adventure for ages 10-14, especially if they love the “Jurassic Park” films.

Scientists revive many species of dinosaurs but fail to realize that they have revived many long-gone viruses and bacteria at the same time. 99% of humanity is wiped out by a pandemic and dinosaurs become dominant. 150 years later, some of the surviving humans are living in underground bunkers, ruled over by oppressive and militaristic leaders, with residents not allowed any personal possessions or rebellious talk.

When 14-year old Sky was seven, her scientist father left the compound and was labeled a traitor. Since Sky’s mother died when she was a baby, Sky is alone and treated badly as the daughter of a traitor. She and her best friend escape, hoping to reach a rumored location in Lake Michigan. In addition to the expected terrifying dinosaurs, they also discover a village of independent humans living in a village built in the trees.

The descriptions of the dinosaurs are quite good and the encounters with both reptile and human foes are exciting and (within reason) realistic. If you have an action-heroine daughter or granddaughter or any preteen who loves dinosaurs, this is the book.

I personally really enjoy this book, i could use a little more detail and that is why i rated it at
4 1/2 stars. But aside from that it is a great action packed dinosaur adventure
