For those who do not understand ‘Dia De Los Muertos’ this is the movie to get a full understanding. Coco deals with family loss & memories. Some parts may be a little scary for kids but others might find it funny. Over all I enjoyed it! Just get ready to get out your Kleenex.

Brilliant movie! I love Dante the Xoloitzcuintli (pronounced: zo-lo-in-squint-lee) dog and the overall story. It has a strong message about family, great music, and it was also cool to learn more about the Mexican Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos). I recommend this movie to adults and children alike!

Adored this movie. Having been to Oaxaca many times, I felt that it captured some of the spirit of the Mexican people.

Excellent family film especially for chamacos and for adultos to explore the tradition of Dia de los Muertos. An entertaining ghostly cultural drama to remember your friends and family who have died in brilliant colors. The family secret was clever that justice will be serves even in afterlife.

Note: Remember Me is a good romantic song but Un Poco Loco is more fun!

Just awful. Nothing at all extraordinary, elevating or transformative as in vintage Disney. No homage to iconic Mexican art, music or myth. Even the afterlife is portrayed as nothing special - just a lot more waiting around in a contemporary urban airport or transit station with the same menacing border police evicting would-be entrants without the right ID. If musical, spiritual Mexico truly believed heaven was this bereft they'd all commit suicide. How many times will they recycle the glass ceiling art from Beauty and the Beast? Do they think we don't notice? How many times the same tired anachronistic/New York delicatessen humor? How many more dull, nasal pop singers must we endure? I wish Disney scribes and flaks would lose the computer graphics and instead hit the stacks and bone up on the giants whose shoulders they should be standing on.

B/c there are so few kids' movies during this seemingly never-ending Invasion of the Vulgarians, parents have no choice. This is all there is. But let's not pretend it's acceptable - not with all the resources at Disney's disposal.

Many quotes in IMDb already and thanks to those contributors. Here is my favorite and an unexpected jargon from mijo to papi:

Miguel: [to Héctor] A minute ago I thought I was related to a murderer! You're a total upgrade!
[Héctor gives Miguel an annoyed look]

Apr 25, 2018

Héctor: [sings] Remember me, though I have to say goodbye / Remember me, don't let it make you cry / For even if I'm far away, I hold you in my heart / I sing a secret song to you, each night we are apart / Remember me, though I have to travel far / Remember me, each time you hear a sad guitar / Know that I'm with you, the only way that I can be / Until you're in my arms again, remember me...
