With a family history of heart disease and high cholesterol I was keen to find a solution without resorting to statins in my 30's. It seems strange, but eating fat and reducing sugar and carbs has been the key to keeping my numbers in check without drugs.

This is the most comprehensive book on the keto way of eating that I have read (I've checked out almost all of the ones in the library catalog). This gets into the details on how keto works and what can derail you. There aren't recipes in this book (Maria has many great keto recipe books) but it does include weekly 'no-cook' meal plans as a guide to get started. I highly recommend this book if you want to learn the science behind keto.
