I really enjoyed this work of biographical fiction. I found the historical perspective fascinating, though I was not quite sure where the facts ended and the 'fiction' began.

John wrote several books of the Bible, and part of the text of some of those is included in the text of the story. I usually skipped those parts. I found the story read just as well without them.

There were some great descriptions of how they tried to kill John (and in the epilogue one other person) but miraculously failed.

Liked it a lot.
