View pre-revolution era France and the colonies mid revolution in this tale focused on Lafayette. Although this is a graphic novel, it contains a large amount of information. We begin with the death of Lafayette's father (in a war with the British). His childhood in France trains him for battle and stokes the anti-British sentiments he was born with. When he is finally able to sail to the colonies (love the graphics that were always used to show Lafayette sailing across the Atlantic), he meets General Washington and establishes a rapport that lasts throughout the war. The bravery and tenacity of Lafayette were most definitely a huge help in victory. Would like to see a Lafayette 2.0 and learn more about the French Revolution.

this is fun to read even though the author has a sometimes funny style of drawing faces & heads(I think he does better than I could on those bodily parts). He does a good job on details that are needed to follow the story. I would recommend this Author to Teachers who are trying to get their students to learn about history and some of the characters involved in it.

A hilarious and educational illustrated biography about Lafayette.

Just say "oui" to this illustrated biography of Lafayette's involvement in the American Revolution. There is a little of his early life represented, and a lot of his campaigns with Washington and his value in bringing France to aid the American cause. It's hard not to be charmed by this tale of a man who earnestly did his best.

Give to any kid (or teen or adult) who likes the humor of the musical Hamilton and wants something just as lively and engrossing, though slightly less, well, musical. (Don't worry, the artwork and entertaining side characters definitely make up for the lack of complex rhyme schemes.)

Well! This is not what I learned in dry history books!
Think as Great Britain's version of Vietnam war. GB had trouble in counterinsurgency or Rebels hit & run or blend into the population. GB superpower status got taken down by rabble rousing upstart. US was broke after the war & they liquidated the Native Americans to expand westwards just like Vietnamese on Hmong & ethnic Chinese to get their land. France meddled in cold war against its superpower rival with "military aid" & "technical advisors". Course, they paid a huge price on overspending.
Kudos on author to bring the human side & lowbrow humor in a bloody dark chapter.
