This is really cool. Set in 1851, but an 1851 where a) space travel was discovered long ago by Isaac Newton, b) it's quite easy to breathe, anywhere in the solar system, and c) there are wild and wacky plants and animals everywhere you go. This is a fun story, fast paced, full of twists and turns. Anyone from 8 years and up would enjoy reading it, or having it read to them. Highly recommended.

"This is Victorian England like no one's ever seen it before! The year is 1851, and British citizens Art and Myrtle Mumby are living with their father in a rambling house called Larklight, which just happens to be floating around in outer space. When elephant-sized spiders attack Larklight, Art and Myrtle manage to escape, sending them on a series of adventures where they encounter aliens, robots, explorers, pirates... and their long-lost mother. Will the Mumbys be able to save the universe from the evil aliens and reunite their family? Find out in this rollicking tale that's not to be missed by anyone who loves their stories filled with non-stop action and lots of laughs." Kids' Books October 2013 newsletter
