Scott Turow’s approach is thoughtful and cerebral, providing insights into the inner workings of the state appellate court. The title (Limitations) has multiple meanings, beginning with the legal principle that ensures convictions are based on evidence that has not deteriorated with time. The other meanings are more personal in nature, relating to the key characters.

The story line isn’t bad, given the book’s brevity. In some cases, the characters are sketches. But the resolution is suspenseful and gratifying, especially for readers who have followed the legal precedents and arguments for and against the case under consideration.

Not my favourite Scott Turow - but really, has anything been better than Presumed Innocent? Listened to this on CD and had to keep rewinding. This means it either wasn't holding my attention, or that the voices were too monotone. I think this would be a better read than a listen.

This book drifts until tied up at the end. Somehow, I managed to get through it though. 5 of 10 stars
