This story is great for K-2 graders just beginning to read. It also teaches the importance of sharing. Any children older than that age group it is not recommended because of the content for younger readers

Comment
Add a CommentReally a fantastic book that gets into the mind of a child and shows how siblings have to navigate jealousy and celebrating others when it isn't their birthday. The family - as in all of the Frances books - is a bit 1950s but I just find that interesting/something to be aware of.
Excellent. Most children's books are OK. Some are terrible. This exceeds all expectations. The more I read it to my daughter the more I like it.
Possibly one of the best picture books ever written!
Frances is excited hecausse her sister Georgia is having a birthday. at least she starts off that way. She watches as Momma makes a cake, dinner and party favors . Frances goes with her father to buy a present for Gloria. As she looks at the delicious chocolate bar she bought for her sister starts to look tasty. Frances decides to take a liitle bite. By the end of the story, Frances realizes that what started off as jealously ends up with her being happy for her sister the birthday girl.
