Having spent over 15 years working in the high tech industry and also having had a background in science and biochemistry I agree with Richard. Much of the technologies and plans for them are already in progress and developing fast. It is not unheard of that someone could hack our whole power system and kill thousands of people. Imagine taking out all of Candas power in the middle of February or during an ice-storm - hospitals, clinics, safety systems....
The book is very well written, was predictive in a few places such as the Pancake House bombing and standard US predjuices there - bomber was thought to be Pakastani but the ending was not quite as I had expected.
The story was also fast paced, with less descriptive fill-in or repeat of information that you see so often in this genre.
I enjoyed the read and will try more of Richard's books
