For several decades a brutal army of rebels has been raiding villages in northern Uganda, kidnapping children and turning them into soldiers or wives of commanders. More than 30,000 children have been abducted over the last twenty years and forced to commit unspeakable crimes.
Grace Akallo was one of these. Her story, which is the story of many Ugandan children, recounts her terrifying experience. This unforgettable book--with historical background and insights from Faith McDonnell, one of the clearest voices in the church today calling for freedom and justice--will inspire readers around the world to take notice, pray, and work to end this tragedy.

Dear Authors,

I found your book both intriguing, compassionate, funny and heartbreaking. I also thought it was a mixture of allogory and truth.
I come to this conclusion mostly because it is from a christian point of view, although there was a mixture of other religions.
While I have never been to Uganda, I can relate to the "Night children". In other words, it resembles all other parts of the world as you say, however, when you point out helping just 1.8 million hostages in Uganda, what state are the other 25 million in?
While I find your book moving, I definately feel a push/pull relationship between the authors and the biblioghapers.
You paint a picture of hope and horror.
Alternately, I believe the immigration portrayal of this great country is skewed.
