Cancer is always difficult to talk about and even more difficult to understand, especially as a child. "The Lemonade Club" has simple, precise wording that is easily understandable. It includes an adult and a child dealing with the disease and expresses the tragedy and triumphs of chemotherapy. Writing from her own experiences, Patricia Polacco brings sympathy and empathy to one of life's hardest obstacles.
