I really liked this book. I found the characters fascinating. Sue Miller captured so well that larger-than-life political figure that needs women to fuel his energy.

I am a big fan of Sue Miller, but The Senator's Wife was a big disappointment to me. It was well-written as usual, but I found myself having little interest in the characters. I never got any sense of what made the younger narrator tick.

*Possible Spoiler*
I also found the climactic scene to be gratuitous and not in keeping with the characters or the rest of the book.

A book like this reminds me of what good writing is. I've read several books this summer and it's such a relief to be in the hands of an author who has the gift of being able to tell a story from varying viewpoints, and who can create flawed, complex characters who are likable. I think the two may be connected.

I think this is one of her better books, and I've liked all of her books so far.

It is boring at the begining, and it kept boring to the end. None of thecharacters in this book are interesting to me.

Great book! Was turned on to this author through "The Good MOther" and have read several others of hers. Like her writing style, easy to read and seems to touch on my life in terms of being a wife and mother. This book was a good example of Sue Miller's writing. It really challenges you to look at a situation from different angles and try to decide what is right and wrong.

I hadn't read anything by this author before and I'm now working my way through all her books.
