Most of the essays in this collection are good, but the fact that all of them were either written originally for another collection of essays, or as chapters of books, tells against it. Additionally, Harold Bloom's introduction as the editor is brief and uninteresting. The execution is disappointing, but some of the content may lead one to read the books from which the essays came.
