This is my number one favorite book to use in storytime: great rhyming text, adorable art, a consistent story structure, and not one but two twist endings that even adults will enjoy.

Julia Donaldson at her best

Jan 18, 2008

This was the first Julia Donaldson book we read - purchased by chance at the Library used book sale. My son and I fell in love with it instantly. The money gets lost and a nice butterfly stops to help him find his mom. With each turn of the page he describes a physical aspect of his mom, but the butterfly just can't get it right. Each page starts with "No, no, no" as the monkey proceeds to tell her why these various animals are not related to him. It teaches that although we are all different we all have some things in common.
