Blood Trail adds excellence to the already strong Joe Pickett series from CJ Box. I greatly enjoyed the suspense, but even more the way Box's describes the tension between today's culture and our heritage of hunting and living in the beautiful, but harsh nature that is the Western US. Read the whole series!

How can anyone who has written "Morning mist hangs as if sleeping in the trees . . ." (Page 3) not be considered an excellent writer. Bless you and keep churning out your books for us to enjoy.

Book eight in the Joe Pickett stories finds Joe, Wyoming game warden at-large, investigating the most horrifying and sensational crimes yet: A master hunter and tracker who preys on other hunters, leaving them hung and dressed like the game they seek. Of course governor Rulon wants Joe all over this case yesterday. Then an obsessed and flamboyant anti-hunting advocate arrives in Saddlestring, complete with a beautiful native wife and baby. And Joe's despised boss shows uncharacteristic kindness towards him after all these year. and you'll learn some good lessons in tracking.

This book's premise is so gory, I almost didn't read past chapter one. I've read all the author's books up to this copy write date, in order, so as to understand his references to past events. Still a good read, but beware -it's the bloodiest yet.
