Lie # 11: Medved is a reasonable man and a decent writer.

Medved should have stuck to the career for which he showed so much promise, reviewing bad movies.

I found this book poorly written. The facts are not well supported. Research is biased. The writer does not present the truth. He simply presents one-sided perspectives that have long ago been discredited. For example, the first lie he addresses is Thanksgiving. I thought that he would discuss the lie that Europeans and Native Americans lived harmoniously for centuries. Instead, the writer describes the indigenous populations as savages whom many were killed by small pox and other virus/microbes. While this is true, he does not address at all the massacre of entire villages by the Europeans. What he calls "anti-American rhetoric" is simply the ugly side of our history. As good Americans, it is important to know the good, the bad, and the ugly.
