"Carrie White may have been unfashionable and unpopular, but she had a gift. Carrie could make things move by concentrating on them. A candle would fall. A door would lock. This was her power and her sin. Then, an act of kindness, as spontaneous as the vicious taunts of her classmates, offered Carrie a chance to be a normal and go to her senior prom. But another act--of ferocious cruelty--turned her gift into a weapon of horror and destruction that her classmates would never forget."--Online description.

I avoided King forever but now love it. I think he's a really good writer. I thought the characters names were amusing and there are a lot of odd ball references throughout.

Well all I have to say is this is another one of Stephen Kings masterpieces. An intriguing beginning with many more horrific events to come. This is a book that is relatable if something embarrassing has ever happened to you. Carrie is bullied by her peers and eventually snaps. She lashes out and in comes the Stephen's horrific twist.

I would defiantly recommend this book to anybody who has enjoyed previous Stephen King books or is looking for something scary to read.

Good concept. You can tell that it's one of King's earlier works because the writing is a little choppy. Worth reading though.

Carrie by Stephen King is the horror author’s debut novel and revolves around Carrie White, a teenage girl with the ability to move things with her mind but is bullied by her peers and abused by her incredibly religious mother. It is a fairly short book and incredibly heartbreaking. I read this in my first year of high school and have had the urge to reread it because I was only fourteen-years-old when I read it and my views on books have changed. However, whenever I look back on the book it was pretty okay. It being is first novel, I would say it is his least best however it is also a start to his writing career, and that fact I can get behind. 3/5 Stars. @SeraphinaWilliams of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

I read this book for a popular fiction class. I admit it was the first Stephen King book I read and I enjoyed it! It was harsh and totally unrealistic but interesting. I found that I enjoy Stephen Kings writing style and that he is able to develop characters and plot without going onto an insane about of detail. overall, I understand why this is a popular book and Stephen King a popular writer.

I've never been that interested in reading Stephen King, but @LPL_LeahN convinced me he is an author to pay attention to. She is totally right! This book is SO COMPELLING. I gobbled it up in a day and a half, and immediately put more Stephen King books on hold. Read Carrie if you want some classic King and see what all the fuss is about.

A fun little novel that really knows how to turn up the weird/creep factor. Not much to complain about, except that the story flow is rather disjointed, but i personally think that adds to it's character. Sympathetic protagonist, deliciously over the top antagonists, this is definitely worth a look.

I started reading Stephen King in junior high. Now that I'm older and have decided to read some of his older books again, I notice things I didn't before. Carrie, for example, strikes me now as an immensely sad story. Perhaps it's because I've read scarier or more disturbing books in the two decades since I first read it, but King's first novel doesn't give me the creeps the way some of his others do. It's not my favorite of his, but it's a solid first effort.

Carrie is about a young teenage girl who has a hard life. Her mother is a crazy women who believes the whole world is a sin. She tells Carrie horrible things that make her feel afraid. When she goes to school she gets bullied by the girls at the school. Everyone will regret it. The review I will give is a 5 out of 5. It's a good book. There are really intense scenes that make you feel like you are there with the characters . I recommend this book because if you like horror and suspense the book will be for you. This book is a little harsh for younger kids ,So it’s for a mature audience
