"Their parents had died. They had a grandfather they'd never med, but they didn't want to live with him."

I've been going back and reading some of my favorite books from my childhood, and this series is definitely in my top five for this age group. They're a really easy read, and captivating for all ages, even adults!
This book is a great kickoff to the "Boxcar Children" series. If you have seen the movie read the book!
This is a wonderful book. I love it ! Be sure to read the before-the-first one about their life before their parents died.
The first book of The Boxcar Children is amazing. The story is touching and sad, while the four children figure out how to survive and make a home after their parents die. I have always loved this book, and think it's a great addition to any children's library.
It's a RELLY GOOD book and it is a good series
my 4th grade son loved reading this book.
The four children said they didn't like their uncle to the bakers wife who found them in the bakery.
They over-heard the baker and bakers wife saying that they wanted to keep the three older children and sell the youngest one to a children house.
When they heard that they said that they must run away. So during the night they snuck out of the bakery and ran away.
Early in the morning the four children heard something. It was the baker and the bakers wife! They had woken up in the morning to find the four children gone! So they had come looking for them.
Again they over-heard them talking, and this time the wife said" they can't walk all the way to Silver city". Then the baker said" we will only search in Green wood now". The wife also said" only Green wood and then we are going back.
The children knew they had to go as far as Silver city or the baker and his wife will find them.
Soon they came upon a old boxcar and they decided to live in it. They loved it there.
This is the best book I have ever read in my life! Well at least so far.
You should totally read it!
